There is going to be an international edition of Monopoly, which is going through a selection process of which cities should be part of it.

You can go online and cast your vote to decide whether Melbourne or Sydney should score a place on the board - at the moment Sydney is ahead.

In Melbourne, opinions of whether Melbourne should be on it are split. Some Melbournians are happy for Sydney to take the place as Sydney is seen to reflect the spirit of Monopoly – greed, money and speculation -, while Melbourne‘s is beheld as a city of sophistication and culture.

But on the other hand, we love a game…

Besides all sophistication and style, Melbourne was born in the craze of the gold rush and has been through various property booms and bust, which have also made Melbourne what it is today…

I’ve asked my kids – they don’t have such considerations - and they clearly want Melbourne on the map.
