If you would like to visit Melbourne Victoria you will need a Tourist Visa Australia, unless you are holding an Australian or NZ passport.

The ETA is one of two types of Tourist Visas: It is an electronically stored visa. It is valid for 3 months only and is only available to passport holders of countries listed here.

The advantage of the ETA is that it is cheap. There is only a processing fee of $20. It is the ideal solution if you know that you will be here on a short trip only.

The disadvantage of the ETA is that it cannot be renewed. However, if you wanted to stay on and met the criteria, you could apply for a tourist visa before your ETA expired.

Tourist Visa

This Visa is more flexible. With this you can apply to stay in Australia for up to 12 months. You can also get the option of multiple entries if you wish.

However, there are certain financial and general requirements that you have to meet.

It is more expensive as the ETA. This visa can be applied for online, or directly by person or mail through an Australian Immigration office.

If there is a possibility that you wanted to stay in Australia for more than 3 month, this would be your preferred option.
