How I have ended up creating a website about Melbourne

Who am I - producing a website about Melbourne?

Growing up, I wanted a life of adventure and exploration, and the freedom to pursue my goals - and help others do the same.

I felt stifled in Germany and the route of job, mortgage and 2 ˝ kids was not going to cut it for me.


I travelled, first Europe, then Asia - spend months living in different cultures, came back home to work… and finally ended up on a plane to Australia.

It was 5 o’clock on a winter’s morning in Perth. Stepping out onto the dark sparsely lit tarmac, I had the odd but profound sense that I had come home.

This feeling stayed, and so did I. Australia is a land of freedom for me, where anything is possible if you apply yourself.

I travelled and lived in various places around the country, then started a family. I have a business in building design. While this supports us, it has in many ways turned into another ‘job’ that I can’t get away from.

I had come across hundreds of sales pitches and promises of an easy ways out – but these were never real to me.

In the meantime, we had moved to Melbourne, a city I had fallen in love with – it became the city and home of our choice.

I love Melbourne because of its spirit, its seasons and the passion with which Melbournians celebrate their city, their art, sport and community- and especially the quirky and creative spots and cafes.
